I decided to choose, International Adoption as my topic.
I have chosen this topic for several reasons, I recently read a book called, Kisses From Katie by Katie Davis and she is a single missionary in Uganda, Africa. She is a single missionary mother, and she adopted 13 Ugandan children. I also know many families who have done International Adoption and how it has really blessed their lives and how they are blessing the child's life. I also chose this topic because I hope to someday work in an orphanage some where over in Asia.
I know that there are 143 million orpahns in the world, in need of a loving family who can provide and love them.
I hope to learn more about how it makes a difference in a child's life and how the process works. And, to learn more about the millions of children around the world who needs a family.
The ideal audience of International Adoption is for older adults, married or single who want to make a difference in a child's life. Or even teens who want to make a difference in a child's live who can sponsor a child across the world.
Hi Olivia! I'm glad you've chosen a topic that you seem to care about passionately. A couple of questions came to my mind as I read your post. First, what are the obstacles to international adoption? Second, is the need (143 million orphans) larger than the interest (people pursuing adoption)? Third, are you familiar with the current Russian ban on US adoptions? These three questions may help illuminate the issues or controversy surrounding international adoption, and if you pick one, can help focus your topic. Finally, choose one audience to focus on -- either adults or teens -- because the effects of and suggestions for either audience would likely be different.
