Class assignment 2/11

"...plagiarism isn't a bad thing simply because it's an act of intellectual theft -- although it is that. It's a bad thing because it takes the place of and prevents learning."

The quote makes sense about plagiarism, it is bad and it does prevent us from learning. If we takes someone else's work, how are we going to learn?

I think that this quote is true, because it takes the place of learning and puts stealing into account. The quote is true in when it is saying, "takes the place of and prevents learning." When someone does plagiarize, we don't really think about ourselves because we aren't really doing any thinking or any work for that paper or report or assignment.

Phase 4

For my third source I used an article from Common Dreams. Common Dreams is a non-profit independent news-center. The non-profit news-center shares the progressive values of social justice, human rights, equality and peace. I feel like it is a reliable source because the website is a .org (non-profit organization). The author is, Laurie Penny who is a British journalist. She graduated from Wadham College in English. This article was well written and gave me a lot of information and facts that are going on with Russia and the United States adoption system. It was published on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from the Guardian. The Guardian is, poplar newspaper in England. This article was very helpful with information that is going on with Russia, but also with some events that happened around the world. I think that this source was a reliable source to use.

Since 1992, 60,000 orphans have been adopted from Russia from American families. There have been many problems with both orphanages and adoptions within the families. It is not just happening, in Russia, human trafficking is happening all around the world. Now Russia is banning American families to not being allowed to adopt children.

Blog Phase 3

For my first article, I am choosing an article from The Washington Times. It was a very useful source to use that was about the issue going on with Russia and adoption.

And for my second source I used, Time. Both of the sources were very helpful. The one is from a very well known newspaper and the other a magazine.
