For my third source I used an article from Common
Dreams. Common Dreams is a non-profit independent news-center. The non-profit news-center shares the progressive values of social justice, human rights,
equality and peace. I feel like it is a reliable source because the website is
a .org (non-profit organization). The author is, Laurie Penny who is a British
journalist. She graduated from Wadham College in English. This article was well
written and gave me a lot of information and facts that are going on with Russia
and the United States adoption system. It was published on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from the Guardian. The Guardian is, poplar newspaper in England. This article was very helpful with information that is going on with Russia, but also with some events that happened around the world. I think that this source was a reliable source to use.
Since 1992, 60,000 orphans have been adopted from Russia from American families. There have been many problems with both orphanages and adoptions within the families. It is not just happening, in Russia, human trafficking is happening all around the world. Now Russia is banning American families to not being allowed to adopt children.
Olivia, you're really improving your critical thinking skills; your CRAAP analysis here is much more thorough and thoughtful. I would urge you to keep in mind that even non-profit organizations have perspectives and biases and agendas that they support. This doesn't invalidate the arguments (I think that's a better word than "facts") they put out there but it is important to acknowledge.
ReplyDeleteYour summary hits some of the major points the article highlights. But what would you say the bottom line of their argument is? Rereading their conclusion will help you identify their primary argument.
Overall great job!
